What with the upcoming holidays and weekends, what better way to chill than to stay at home or go to a silent nook to catch up on your reading!

We’ve come up with a short list of books you could check out. Some of these are recently published, while some are old.

(Clicking on the book covers will give you a preview of the book!)

1. LUCAS - Jay McLean

In a sprint, every millisecond counts.
When you’re waiting for love, those milliseconds can feel like eons.
High school senior Lucas Preston has it all: star of the track team, a scholarship waiting for him, an apartment to himself and a revolving door of girlfriends. He also has an older sister, five younger brothers and a father who relies on him to make sure those brothers don’t kill each other.
His saving grace? Lois “Laney” Sanders, a girl he started to fall in like with when he was just eleven.
A girl who became his best friend, his confidant, his courage.
It took only sixteen clicks and eight seconds for Lucas to realize that his like for Laney had turned into love.
Eight life-changing seconds.
It’s also the exact length of time it took to lose her.

This book has the right dose of love, fun, drama, and angst. Based from Jay McLean’s “More Than” series, this book delves deep into the rawness of love.

Jay McLean is a Filipino based in Australia with her husband and two boys. She is an international bestselling-writer whose books we ALWAYS wait for.

Also, who doesn’t love a good best friends-turned-lovers story? We’re a hundred percent positive Lucas and Laney will make you laugh, swoon, and cry. Oh, and have we mentioned Lucas has an adorable family?

2. CHASING RED and ALWAYS RED - Isabelle Ronin
They said she was going to be my ruin…
Then let her ruin me.
Caleb Lockhart has everything—wealth, adoration, a brilliant future. Until a chance encounter with a siren in a red dress changes everything. Until he meets the woman he dubs Red.
Veronica Strafford’s past makes it hard for her to trust anyone. Now, kicked out of her apartment, she reluctantly accepts Caleb’s offer for a place to stay.
Caleb feels intensely drawn to Veronica. And, for the first time in his life, he really wants something—someone. Too bad Veronica’s heart might just be the one thing Caleb can’t win.

--
This originated as a Wattpad story which has gotten over 150 million reads. Isabelle Ronin is a Filipino-Canadian writer and we assure you she’s got the formula that will tug on your heartstrings.

Caleb and Veronica are two characters who’ll definitely make you want to experience the roller coaster of unexpected love.

This is currently at $1.99 on Amazon so make sure to grab that deal before it runs out!

Chasing Red (as originally published on Wattpad) was published as two books. Chasing Red is the first book, while the conclusion is on Always Red.

3. LET'S GET TEXTUAL - Teagan Hunter
A wrong number is supposed to be just that–a wrong number.
Delete. Done.
Do not continue to text. Do not flirt.
A wrong number shouldn’t be the first person on your mind in the morning, or the last at night…and you’re definitely not supposed to talk them into buying a baby goat.
Because that would be weird.
When Zach Hastings and I get into a wrong-number mix-up, we don’t follow the rules. We keep texting and flirting, because he’s wicked funny and perfectly nerdy and a wonderful distraction.
I’m not looking for love, and Zach definitely had the wrong number.
But maybe…
Maybe he’s the right guy.

Okay. Do not be misled by that cover. We won’t recommend you books that aren’t safe for work. 😜

If you love puns and texting and a funny romance, this book is for you! You’ll laugh out loud at the characters and this’ll make you want to read all of Teagan’s books.

4. ON A TUESDAY - Whitney G.
We met on a Tuesday.
Became best friends, then lovers, on a Tuesday.
And everything fell apart on a Tuesday...
Charlotte Taylor has three automatic strikes in my book: 1) She hates me. She also claims that I'm a "domineering jerk with a huge, overbearing ego." (I do have something huge. It's not my ego, though.) 2) She takes our mandatory tutoring sessions way too seriously. 3) She's sexy as hell...And a virgin.
At least, those were her strikes before our study sessions started lasting longer than they were supposed to. Until one innocent kiss became a hundred dirty ones, and until she became the first woman I ever fell hard for.
Our future together after graduation was supposed to be set:
Professional football for me. Law school for her.
But she left me at the end of the semester with no explanation, and then she completely disappeared from my life.
Until tonight.
We met on a Tuesday.
Became everything, then nothing, on a Tuesday.
now it's seven years later, on a Tuesday...

Second chance romance novels can get messy, add in the jock + normal girl themes. However, this book got the right formula. Grayson and Charlotte will make you fall in love with both of them while shedding a few tears in the process.

This was also based off of Adele's "When We Were Young", so make sure to listen to that as you read this!

5. THE FOXE AND THE HOUND - R.S. Grey
When your life is a hot mess at twenty, it's cute. At twenty-seven...well, not so much.
It's just that my lofty dreams--making it as a real estate agent, paying rent on time, showering daily--have stayed just that: dreams. Oh, and love? I've decided love might be a little ambitious for me at the moment. Instead, I've settled for the two guys who will never leave me: Ben & Jerry.
That is, until Dr. Adam Foxe takes up residence as the town's new vet.
With his strong jaw, easy confidence, and form-fitting scrubs, it's not long before every housewife in Hamilton is dragging neglected tomcats in for weekly checkups.
Like everyone else, I'm intrigued. Even after I spoil my chance at a good first impression, he still offers me a proposition I can't refuse: play his girlfriend at a family function and he'll hire me as his real estate agent. Welcome to love in the 21st century.
It's too bad I underestimated Adam's irresistible charm and the undeniable attraction that burns between us. The day he pins me to the wall and silences me with a kiss, the line between reality and ruse begins to blur. Every teasing touch brings me to my knees. Every kiss promises more.
It looks like my hot mess of a life is about to get a little hotter.

Be consistent and include these as part of your daily bread. Ask every member of your family (at least) to support you and do the same. Like a ripple effect, at least 5/10 ratio of people has a bigger impact than 2/10 ratio of saving mother earth.
