How to get over #backtoworkblues

We know many of you are coming back from an amazing and fruitful weekend - whether you only slept or cleaned all day, or you've created memories that are sure to last a long time. Hooray to that!

While we consider weekends as the best times to forget all our worries at work while relaxing and rejuvenating, it's also during this time when we tend to overthink. We start feeling unwilling to go back to our routine - work, work, and work.

Doctors don't have a proper term for it, but the Twitterverse calls it #BackToWorkBlues or post-vacation hangover.

This feeling of unwillingness can be considered as an extra stress for our body. Studies show that it's perfectly normal and we just have to get used to it, but we also have to admit that it's really difficult to get used to this usual stress, more so, since the holiday season is coming up.

Because of this, some people are preparing themselves so they won't experience it. How? Some of them openly try new things, while others are letting it pass. How about you? What do you do to copy?

atmnl has a couple of tips which might help you get back to your normal routine easily!

Let's start and train this at your first workday of the week!

1. Coffee person or not, make sure to have a hot yummy drink or hearty breakfast in the morning to kick-start your day. Basically, drinking or savouring your breakfast is similar to what you’ve liked about the weekend – an opportunity to savour a moment or an element you can bring at work. So take advantage of the 15-minute morning break.

2. Be patient and don’t be too hard on yourself. Ease back into work. Some people might have a misconception regarding this, but just do it at your own phase. Easing back into work doesn't take the exact same pace for everyone.

Remember “Don’t jump into the cold water, or you’ll have a heart attack.”

Read emails after eating breakfast or after touching up your makeup. Get started on your to-do list happily and set small goals you can finish within the day to feel a sense of accomplishment. This can really help you become more productive.

3. People who are blue tend toward withdrawal. So push yourself to interact with a friend (a real friend that understands you).  Share all the good stuff that happened during the weekend, and even the not so good. Having someone to talk to at work is always helpful - both in work-related terms and personal matters.

4. Trash all the unnecessary stuff. If you are overthinking about work, stop and take a deep breath. If you can't get over the tension from last week and you're feeling guilty about your weekend shenanigans, stop and take a deep breath.

And if you're feeling sorry for yourself, resist! Don't dwell on things you can't control.

5. Keeping yourself motivated helps reduce the vacation blues. Take advantage of the break in your routine and start new office habits. You can plan for your next holiday trip or workout session to detoxify.

6. Be optimistic and acknowledge that something you enjoyed greatly has come to an end - make peace with it and remember that other exciting things can happen again!

It's not the only memorable thing that can happen to you! There are brighter things ahead!

Be consistent and include these as part of your daily bread. Ask every member of your family (at least) to support you and do the same. Like a ripple effect, at least 5/10 ratio of people has a bigger impact than 2/10 ratio of saving mother earth.
